Informatic Applications in Journalistic
Personal Comment: Here we have two pairs of books. Depicted are the covers of volume A and B, which are given to the students of journalistic at the Dep. of Journalistic and Mass Media of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. It is co-authored with Andreas Veglis (go to his page!). The book can be found at Tziola as well.
Content: The first volume is rather general (computers for beginners) and presents the basic software (Operating systems, Word, Excel etc). The second one is more advanced: publishing issues, networks, etc.
I don't recommend the first volume, because you can find this issues in better books.
It is recommended if somebody wants to buy both books, because thus one has a complete "guide to journalism for beginners" (obviously concerning the computer as a tool)
I recommend the second volume, because of the chapters it contains you can't find otherwhere! Eg. grammatography, pre-press, DTP-theory, apré-press etc.
You can have an example in Adobe.pdf
Contents of the 1st Volume
Part 1: The computer
Part 2: Electronic Preparation of News
Contents of the 2nd Volume
Part 3: Desktop Publishing
Part 4: Networking
